Weekly Weigh-In

August 19, 2009

Despite my complete sloth this week AND a splurge of a dinner on Saturday night I still managed to loose 0.8 lbs this week. That makes me happy. Especially since I was totally prepared to gain a little.

I didn’t work out on Thursday, Friday OR Saturday this past week. That hasn’t happened in a while. It was all just a matter of circumstance really. My son was sick on Thursday so I was home with him. Friday was so busy at work playing catch up. And Saturday we went to see Steely Dan so it was a day filled with running around delivering the boy to relatives and other general errands.

Saturday night we went to out to eat with my sister and it was yummy. I had the most wonderful Baked Goat cheese with grilled bread and then a pizza on thin crust with cheese and bacon. Drrroooollll. It was yummy and I was sure I’d pay for it, but I got right back into the swing of things on Sunday with an hour on the elliptical and sticking to my points. I suppose that paid off.

I got my new bathing suits in and returned most of them. They fit but I just decided I wanted something a little more concealing in the tummy area. I went with this instead…

swimtop

swimbottom

Black again. I was really trying to branch out to some color this year but the black just kinda happened. I feel like the rouching on the top helps hide any muffin-top sort of areas. Even though everything fits it’s tight so things that aren’t firm (i.e. my stomach) still seem to get pushed around to the path of least resistance. The only thing I don’t like about the top is that it crisscrosses across the boobs. Flattering yes but one wrong move and I’ve exposed a boob to the beach. I think I’m going to stitch that bad boy closed just for my own peace of mind.

I had to go with the shorts. I just had to. My thighs may be a bit smaller but they’re still covered in stretchmarks from pregnancy and I just don’t think I’ll ever be comfortable showing them to the world again. I’m much more comfy in shorts or a swim mini and since my husband said the shorts looked better I went with the shorts.

I’m at least happy that I’m going to feel somewhat comfortable at the beach this year. THAT is monumental in itself.

Weekly Weigh-in

August 12, 2009

I’ve been MIA for a while. I gotta admit I’ve been pretty damn frustrated with my progress lately. I hit a serious plateau and I’ve been beyond pissed about it.

Last weekend I packed the boy up and headed slightly north to visit my family. My brother was in town from TX with his family and my son adores the lot of them. It was a fun weekend of excess. I ate too much food of the unhealthy variety and only managed to work out once. I drank two nights in a row which I hardly ever do and just generally had a good ole time.

Apparently that few days of decadance at least seemed to pop me out of that plateau. As of right now anyway. Who knows what it’ll do to the scale two weeks from now. Anyway, I’m down 1.9 pounds and FINALLY out of the 160s. I’m officially 158.4 as of this morning.

Yippee! I don’t think I’ve weighed this little in a good 6-7 years. Before you know it I might actually make it to my “normal” BMI range. Although I’m still happy when the Wii Fit tells me I’m just overweight and no longer obese.

Another triumph is that I am definitely in a size 12 now. That’s a pretty big accomplishment on it’s own. I still have a couple of pairs of 14 jeans that I can wear but they start getting pretty loose by the end of the first day wearing them. I’m feeling better about myself but I do know I still have areas to work on.

I’ve got plenty of jiggle left to get rid of but at least I don’t feel like I want to hide behind baggy clothes and long pants all the time. I’ve got a new bathing suit coming for our annual beach trip and I’m hoping it fits well enough to make me comfortable just wearing it without the ginourmous white v-neck t-shirt over it. We’ll see.

I tried a new workout DVD recently. I’ve had if for a while and just never tried it—Jillian Micheal’s No More Trouble Zones. Holy Crap! I could barely walk the next day. That woman is seriously some kinda of sadist. It’s a little long for a normal rotation but I’m going to add an abbreviated version in with my workouts. I’m getting pretty tired of Boot Camp so I think I’ll rotate this one in to replace that one for a while. As always Cardio Max is still kicking my ass weekly so I don’t think that one is going anywhere.

I’ve been listening to The Time Traveler’s Wife on audio book lately so I believe I’ll spend my lunch on the elliptical at the Y today. Gotta get that hour in somehow.
